• International Festival of Town Pipers

    Assembling for ‘The Great Noyse’

Event description

The 8th International Festival of Town Pipers takes place in King’s Lynn from 18 – 20 May 2018.

As part of this year’s King’s Lynn Hansa Festival on 19 and 20 May, the International Guild of Town Pipers will be providing free entertainment around the town.

On Saturday, between 10 am and 4 pm, more than ten bands of musicians from England, Europe and the USA, wearing colourful medieval livery and playing lively tunes on authentic instruments, will perform on Tuesday and Saturday Markets, King’s Staithe Square, in St Nicholas’ chapel and in the High Street.

On Sunday morning they will join forces to lead the Hanse procession from Tuesday Market Place at 10:45 am to King’s Staithe Square.

At 12:30 pm they will give a free concert in St Nicholas Chapel. Each band will process into the chapel playing. Once all bands are assembled, they will play one tune each, and then they will join together to play some pieces en masse.

Their presence in town promises to be both colourful and noisy, creating a very lively spectacle
