It is over 100 years since King’s Lynn hosted a Royal Regatta which was once an annual event on the River Great Ouse. As the theme for this year’s Festival is ‘A Celebration of King’s Lynn Maritime Heritage’ the organisers are delighted to announce the re-introduction of the Regatta. While the Royal Family will be in Windsor for the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan the day before the Hanse Festival, the Royal Family will be represented on the day by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk, The Countess of Romney.
King’s Lynn Coastal Rowing Club have arranged the races which will take place on the River from 10am with the main event starting just as the flag parade arrives in King’s Staithe Square. There will be spectator areas on the quayside to cheer the boats home and the Countess of Romney will present Trophies to the competitors.
Visit the King’s Lynn Coastal Rowing Club website (www.klcrc.club) for more information.
Spectators are reminded that the river is a fast flowing tidal river and to keep well away from the foreshore at any time.
